  • About six years ago Jim traded a '40 Mercury street rod for this good looking GMC pickup. It's gone through two frame off restorations and Jim says he's still not finished. His wife won't let him even think about trading for another street rod. She says she's able to get everything she needs for a weekend trip into the bed of the truck. Looks like he will have the “Jimmy” for quite a while.
  • Power for the pickup comes from a 454 cubic inch big block. Steve Brown of West Point, GA did all of the machine work and assembly of the engine. The rat receives its fuel through a Holley 750 cfm double pumper mounted on a Edelbrock aluminum intake. Stock exhaust manifolds and stainless steel pipes remove the spent gases. A full compliment of chrome and billet dress up goodies add plenty to the eye appeal to the detailed engine bay.
  • The front suspension was donated by an '86 Chevrolet pickup, complete with disc brakes, 2 ½” dropped spindles and power steering. The rear set up comes out of an '85 Chevy pickup carrying 3:08 gears. A Turbo 400 automatic was reworked and put into service.
  • Jim made sure the body of the GMC was smoothed and slick before Chris Snowden sprayed the GM Red/Orange PPG paint. The body mods include a frenched antenna, smoothed side marker lights and door handles, the tailgate was also smoothed and filled then Hagen taillights were frenched in the rear fenders.
  • The interior was finished in cream leather by Troy Whitt of Huntsville, AL. Troy fabricated the custom door panels and used Corvette sliding handles for the inside door releases. The original instruments were used in the woodgrain dash along with a Vintage Air heating and cooling system. A Billet steering wheel with matching leather was mounted on a GM tilt steering column.
  • Jim's read beauty rides on a set of 18” Chrome American Racing wheels. Blackwall radial tires were used on both the front and the rear.
  • We were told that as far as he knows, Jim's truck has never been trailered, he drives it to all the shows that he and his wife attend. That's the way it's supposed to be.
  • Great ride Jim, we at SRM appreciate the time, effort, and enthusiasm rodders like Jim Reddoch contribute to our hobby.
