This 1965 Corvette Tanker was sold New at Newt Godfree Chevrolet of San Antonio Texas. Finished in Elegant Nassau Blue Exterior With White Leather interior. Very unique to this Tanker is the Disc Brake Delete option which would swap the first year factory standard Disc Brakes for Dram Brakes of the previous model year. This Tanker was also ordered with an L75 327/300HP engine, M20 4-Speed Manual Transmission, G81 3:36 Rear Axle, c60 4-Season Air Conditioning, J50 power Brakes, A01 Tinted Glass, N36 Teakwood Steering Wheel, N36 Telescopic Steering Column, N03 36 ½ Gallon Fuel Tank, N11 off Road Exhaust System, P92 Cast Aluminum Knock off Wheels, 775x15 White wall Tires, U69 AM/FM Radio and Z01 Convenience Package. It is said that two types of people ordered the N03 36 ½ Gallon Fuel tank Option the first being someone who wanted to take the car from the dealership floor to the racetrack to compete in endurance racing and the second being traveling businessmen and women who wanted to look good but be able to travel long distances without having to constantly stop for fuel. We believe this Tanker was ordered by the Latter. With Factory Air Conditioning, Leather interior, Teakwood steering wheel power brakes and power steering this corvette is one of the most elegant spec'd Tankers produced. This Corvette was part of the K.D. James collection. K.D. was a very well known corvette collector who had a specific interest in N03 Big Tank cars and he would chase them all over the country. The Corvette would end up in Bob Gregory's Garage, Bob was a well known corvette restorer and would often restore corvettes for collectors. When K.D. expressed interest in selling the corvette in the early 2000's Bob contacted his froend Bruce Smith. Bruse was already the proud owner of the 1966 Red L79 N14 N03 Tanker in the Collection and he was also had an interest in Big Tank Cars. Bruce would purchase the Corvette in 2004 and take on a Complete Comprehensive restoration along with his brother Scott Smith, Bob Gregory and Dick Ferrando Of D&A Corvette. Dick a very experienced Corvette Restorer and Painter painted this corvette in a Lacquer finish. A process that many painters can not complete with the results you see on this corvette. After the Corvette was completed Bruce would take the Tanker out of the National Judging Circuit to Achieve many award. Bruce went on to sell this tanker to Joe Verrillo Of Verrillo Motor Car Co. Of Clifton Park NY. Joe would go on to take the Tanker out for judging and Receive an NCRS Top Flight Award, Bloomington OEM Gold Award and now a MCACN Gold Spinner and Triple Diamond Award.
