Description

This genuine MacNeish Certified Monaco Orange 1969 Chevrolet El Camino SS 396/325HP retains its factory-original Monaco Orange exterior and black interior color combination, as depicted on its original trim tag. The complete original born-with driveline, including the engine, transmission, and rear differential, is detailed in Jerry MacNeish's Camaro Hi-Performance LLC Report.

The El Camino's official production date, depicted by the NCRS Shipping Date Report, was June 3rd, 1969. It was sold new at Hoehn Chevrolet Co. in Beverly Hills, California. Ordered with both high performance and comfort in mind, the factory-installed options are as follows: Z25 SS Equipment, L35 396/325HP Engine, M20 Muncie 4-Speed Manual Transmission, G80 Positraction Rear Axle 3:31 Ratio, C60 Air Conditioning, N40 Power Steering, J52 Power Disc Brakes, D90 Sport Striping, C08 Vinyl Roof Cover, U14 Special Instrumentation, A01 Tinted Glass, U63 AM Radio, and 6927QQ 72-72 Monaco Orange.

Out of all El Caminos produced in 1969, only 11.8% were equipped with the Code L35 396/325HP Engine. This El Camino retains factory-equipped components, including the original born-with 396/325HP L35 Turbo-Jet Engine (Engine Pad T0513JA, where T=Tonawanda engine assembly plant, 0513=May 13th engine assembly date, JA=L35 396/325HP Assembly Code, and 119Z353845, matching the vehicle's VIN stamp). The engine casting date is D29 (April 2nd, 1969). The Muncie M20 Transmission (Case #3925660) has the assembly code P9E14A (p=Muncie Plant, 9=1969, E=May, 14=14th day, A=Ratio). The 12 Bolt rear Axle (#038NF Casting number D289 Casting Date D=April 28=28th day, 9=1969 Assembly Date CF0515B CF=12 Bolt 3:31 Positraction 0515=May 15th assembly date B=Buffalo NY Plant). The original Alternator #1100843 is dated 9D3 (April 3rd, 1969), Original Distributor #1111497 dated 9D10 (April 10th, 1969), and Original #3931067 L35 Intake Manifold dated D189 (April 18, 1969).

As the recipient of a recent comprehensive frame-off restoration, this El Camino shows very well with high attention to detail and many desirable factory-delivered options. A factory-appearing Bluetooth XM radio has been installed in place of the factory AM radio.
