This 1979 Pontiac Trans Am 10th Anniversary was built in Van Nuys, California, and delivered new to L J Pontiac Motor Company in Pueblo, Colorado. This unrestored survivor Y89 Trans Am shows only 16,000 original miles, documented by a factory build sheet recovered from under the rear seat and a complete Pontiac Document Services packet.

This Trans Am is powered by its optional original W78 6.6L Pontiac 400CI Engine (highest horsepower option for 1979), M21 4-Speed Close-ratio Manual Transmission with a G80 Posi-traction 3:23 Rear Axle. Finished in its original two-tone shades of platinum and grey exterior with a special 10th-anniversary Decal package featuring the iconic phoenix hood graphic and Mirror Tinted T-tops. The interior is finished in silver leather with front bucket seats and a leather-wrapped 4-speed shift knob.

The 1979 Y89 Trans Am was the first Trans Am to be priced over $10,000, with the original MSRP for this unit coming in at $10,969.55. Out of 117,108 Trans Ams produced in 1979, only 1,817 10th-anniversary Pontiac 400 4-Speed cars were produced, which is 1.55% of total production. Documents included with the sale include a copy of the PHS documents package, the original build sheet, and a copy of the original window sticker.
